Ingersoll Rand Security Technologies / TagMaster NA Combine Long-Range Read and Smart Card

Users need only one tag for both long range and smart card applications

CARMEL, IN – October 23, 2012 – Ingersoll Rand Security Technologies announced that both aptiQ smart card users and TagMaster North America long range tag users can now combine the features of a long read range tag with the benefits of the highly secure aptiQ MIFARE DESFire™ EV1 smart card to gain access at parking garages, buildings and interior office space.

“It is literally two tag technologies in one. For example, TagMaster’s 2.45 GHz Microwave RFID (radio frequency Identification) technology allows customers to gain hands-free access to a corporate garage that utilizes TagMaster’s long-range RFID readers with read ranges up to 46 feet,” emphasizes Ali Khaksar, TagMaster North America’s president. “The encapsulated aptiQ technology can be used for all personal access to the building or office, even clocking into the time and attendance system.”

The aptiQ smart card utilizes extra layers of security protection such as mutual authentication, AES 128-bit diversified key encryption, and message authentication coding (MAC) to provide the industry’s highest security to each transaction between a contactless smart credential and reader.

“Combining Ingersoll Rand’s aptiQ smart card technology with TagMaster’s long-range identification technology into one tag provides the end-user with the convenience of using a single tag for dual purposes,” explains Diane Kehlenbeck, Ingersoll Rand Security Technologies director of technology alliances. “Since the open architecture design of aptiQ smart card technology is built to ISO 14443 standards, end users can also add applications to the tag such as biometrics and logical access.”

Long range vehicle access controls are needed in multiple applications by a variety of users including universities and schools, hospitals and clinics, public transit authorities, utility fleet companies, commercial residential properties, airports and shipping ports, private/gated communities, businesses, government and military installations, and hotels and condominiums.

The new capabilities of combining long range vehicle access control with smart card benefits are now available by contacting either Ingersoll Rand Security Technologies or TagMaster North America.

TagMaster AVI Installed at Lankenau Medical Center Campus

TACOMA, Wa. | October 01, 2012 — TagMaster North America, Inc., the leading provider of long-range and high-performance Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) systems for Automatic Vehicle Identification (AVI) was installed at Lankenau Medical Center as part of the half-billion dollar expansion on the campus in Wynnewood, Pennsylvania that included revamping labs, refurbishing the medical center, building a new pavilion, and adding on more parking at the site.

Twenty LR-6 PRO long-range RFID readers were installed over 10 entry lanes and 10 exit lanes, allowing for contract parkers to enter and exit the garages hands-free using the S1255 MarkTag Classic RFID tag. Without the need to insert an access card or code, or even lower the vehicle window, the TagMaster system eliminates delays caused by congestion and reduces carbon emissions in parking garages.

The TagMaster RFID solution was integrated with Scheidt & Bachmann’s entervo.com2 parking management system with seven Pay Stations and automated express exit lanes for the reliable accounting of hourly parkers. The system not only manages the entry / exit of contract parkers and pay parkers, but also allows for a real-time connection to the Bryn Mawr Hospital Campus several miles away.

The Scheidt & Bachmann and TagMaster systems were installed to replace an outdated system previously used by Lankenau Hospital. Lankenau Medical Center is one of the region’s most respected acute care hospitals and a regional leader in heart, lung, and vascular care.

Tallest Building in Kentucky Utilizes TagMaster and SKIDATA

GuardLink provides new AVI and PARCS for Class A office building in Louisville.

TACOMA, WA | July 10, 2012 — TagMaster North America, Inc., the leading provider of long-range and high-performance Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) systems for Automatic Vehicle Identification (AVI) was installed by GuardLink for hands-free parking access to the five-level garage adjoined to the Aegon Building in Louisville, Kentucky.

Hines Management, Property Manager of the Aegon Building, chose GuardLink/ParkLink Systems, Inc. to eliminate cashier booths from their system entirely. This was accomplished by installing SKIDATA PARCS (Parking Access and Revenue Control System) and new Pay on Foot technology.

In addition to the new SKIDATA system, TagMaster’s LR-6 PRO long-range RFID readers were paired with TagMaster’s MarkTag MeM ID-Tags to allow traffic to flow smoothly without the stopping and starting necessary with proximity badge systems.

The MarkTag MeM has a state of the art antenna so that it can be installed anywhere on the windshield or dashboard, even on the back of the rear view mirror. Fast, accurate reads ensure speedy parking facility entry. Hands-free access for vehicles reduces carbon emissions in garages caused by long queue lines and idling vehicles, an added bonus for “green” conscious facilities.

“The installation and user training could not have been any easier. The users really like the fact that they do not have to lower their windows on hot Kentucky days,” said Bob Long, Sales Account Manager at GuardLink. “The support from TagMaster NA, start to finish, was second to none!”

GuardLink/Park Link Systems, Inc. integrated TagMaster’s long-range RFID readers with the SKIDATA PARCS as well as HID cards and proximity readers.

TagMaster NA Unveils ACTS Flex for Integrated Access Control

TagMaster North America to introduce TCP/IP integration software at IPI Conference & Expo 2012.

TACOMA, Wa. | May 22, 2012 — TagMaster North America, Inc., the leading provider of long-range and high-performance Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) systems for Automatic Vehicle Identification (AVI), announces the newest to the ACTS embedded software family, ACTS Flex. The software will be officially unveiled June 10th at the IPI International Parking Institute Conference & Expo 2012 in Phoenix, Arizona.

ACTS Flex, powered by ArmID, is reader embedded middle-ware that allows communication between TagMaster long-range readers and third-party access control software using the TCP/IP connection.

ACTS Flex can be used in a variety of applications. A typical application for a TagMaster long-range reader with ACTS Flex is a parking area protected by a barrier. ACTS Flex translates the tag information collected by the reader using JSON, XML, or Plain Text which is sent to the access controller or host computer using the TCP/IP connection. The access controller or host can either open the barrier, or tell the reader to send a relay command to a connected external device, such as a signal light or barrier.

“Though TagMaster North America provides a standalone Access Control and Tracking System solution (ACTS Essential), we saw the need for a middle-ware such as ACTS Flex to better serve our customers who have developed--or hope to develop--their own custom software that could communicate with the TagMaster long-range RFID readers using a popular connection,” said Ali Khaksar, president of TagMaster North America. “TCP/IP is fast, and many locations already have a network infrastructure in place which reduces installation costs.”

TagMaster readers have multiple industry standard connections including RS232, RS485, and Wiegand. With the creation of ACTS Flex, system integrators may now take advantage of the TCP/IP connection which previously was only used for reader configuration.

TagMaster RFID provides access to Tidewater Plantation

Myrtle Beach community uses RFID tags and readers to expedite entry for members.

TACOMA, Wa. | April 06, 2012 —
TagMaster North America, Inc., the leading provider of long-range and high-performance Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) systems for Automatic Vehicle Identification (AVI) provided hands-free access to the Tidewater Plantation community in North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

The previous system used key-fobs that opened the gates remotely but the community required an option that was not easily moved from vehicle to vehicle or shared with non-residents, increasing security for community members.

“We worked with TagMaster to upgrade Tidewater Plantation to a new tag/reader system. They were very helpful and efficient in getting new product on site and supported us very well, even well after the conclusion of the project,” said Michael Furr of RSH Protection. “We were impressed with the performance of the equipment and the level of knowledge, support, and customer-care that TagMaster North America demonstrated.”

RSH Protection, Inc. installed TagMaster’s long-range LR-6 XL readers at three different entry sites for residents and staff to gain access to Tidewater Plantation’s 1100 homes with the S1255 MarkTag Classic RFID tag mounted inside their vehicles. Integrated with the system was an ICT Protégé Platform for access control and remote management of the site.

“This system is the perfect solution for Gate Communities due to the consistent and reliable functionality. Residents can bypass long visitor lines and enter the community using hands-free RFID technology,” said Ali Khaksar, President of TagMaster North America.

RSH Protection, Inc.:
GE Security has presented RSH Protection the “Shining Star Award” for the best implemented GE integrated security solution, and innovative services, and for two years in a row RSH received the “Winners Circle Award” for outstanding achievement as a GE Security Pro Dealer. TagMaster NA’s Northernmost Installation Withstands the Cold

TagMaster RFID access control solution installed at Yellowknife Airport in the Northwest Territories, the busiest airport in northern Canada.

TACOMA, Wa. | March 15, 2012 — TagMaster North America, Inc.,
the leading provider of long-range and high-performance Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) systems for Automatic Vehicle Identification (AVI), products were installed at Yellowknife Airport (YZF) for efficient, hands-free shuttle and maintenance vehicle access. Integrated with the RFID solution are the ACTS Essential access control system and Magnetic barriers.

ACTS (Access Control Tracking System) Essential, powered by ArmID, is an embedded access control software that allows the customer to add vehicles and activate tags, deactivate lost or stolen tags, open gates remotely, manage access schedules, and generate reports, all from a web-enabled, easy-to-use interface using any standard web browser.

The Yellowknife Airport, located approximately 250 miles south of the Arctic Circle, required a system that worked reliably in cold weather. The TagMaster system, provided by Trafco Canada, allows repeat airport customers driving shuttles hands-free access and automatic entry to pickup lanes. Shuttle drivers are now able to attend to their customers quickly and efficiently, without having to manage paper tickets for a revenue system.

“The robust TagMaster products, along with the superior customer service provided by TagMaster North America, make this one of the best long-range access control solutions on the market today,” said Trafco Sales Manager, Kevin Shoults. “You set it up and it works, rain or shine, or in Yellowknife’s case, cold or colder.”
Trafco completed installation in the summer of 2011 and the system has worked flawlessly in the frigid northern Canada climate which averages -27° F (-33° C) in January and has seen record lows of -71° F (-57.2° C).

Regional Transit System Finds the Right Solution with TagMaster

TACOMA, Wa. | January 3, 2012 — TagMaster
RFID products are now used in conjunction with Coencorp’s automated fuel management system, FuelZone Transit, at all six of the Coast Mountain Bus Company’s service locations.

Coast Mountain Bus Company (CMBC), based in Burnaby, British Columbia, connects the region by providing a customer centric transportation network that values safety and excellence and strives to be a leader in environmental performance. CMBC installed Coencorp’s FuelZone Transit system in 2007 and replaced a previous RFID system with the TagMaster solution in 2010.

RFID tags are mounted on the roof of each bus and readers are installed on the ceiling to check the bus in at each fuel lane. Once a bus is identified, the fuel management system unlocks the appropriate pumps while a Coencorp wireless Vehicle Data Unit (VDU) transmits information such as mileage and idle time to the system controller.

The Heavy Duty TagMaster tags have fully predictable life spans, independent of the number of times read, allowing CMBC to plan replacements and avoid monitoring the remaining life of the tag. Heavy Duty tags are able to withstand vigorous carwash jets and brushes every day and stay securely mounted to the roof of each bus.

TagMaster’s LR-6 readers installed on the ceiling use an adjustable read lobe to only read the tag on the bus parked beneath the reader. A defined read lobe allows multiple readers to be located close together without reading across lanes.

“The TagMaster system has improved our data capture rate and the system has operated without any issues for over a year. I would recommend TagMaster tags and readers for systems where reliable tag response is needed and/or a defined tag lifespan is needed,” said CMBC Maintenance Planning Manager, Derek Leach. RFID data capture improved to 99.9% once the TagMaster system was installed and CMBC has now implemented TagMaster RFID across their entire fleet. Project completion is expected early 2012.
